The historical event that I will be researching as my topic
is the Holocaust. The point of view that I will be telling the story from is
that of a little girl’s. Anita is the name o the girl and she is ten years old.
She has long brown curly hair and chestnut colored eyes. She is slender and
short, but very well dressed and groomed. She comes from a long line of
extremely talented painters and she is no exception to this pattern. She loves
to draw and paint everything that she sees. Anita is extremely introverted and
does not have many friends at her all girls’ boarding school. She does not mind
though, she actually enjoys her time alone. She has two older brothers and
three older sisters. Anita is very spoiled because she is the baby of the
family. Her father loves her very much and is so proud of the lovely woman she
is becoming. Anita’s mother passed away one year ago. The family rarely talks
about her death, but Anita knows that her father is still very much in his
mourning stage. Today is Anita’s birthday, but something is not right. There
have been rumors that Jewish families will start to be treated differently.
They will not have the same rights or privileges of those who are not Jewish. When
Anita and her sister went to the market in the morning to fetch some bread and
cheese for dinner, they were kicked out without any explanation. When they asked
the man behind the counter why he was treating them this way he simply said, “I’m
so sorry, I’m just doing what I am told,” and sent them on their way. Anita’s
sister Herriot told her not to worry, this was a one-time mistake, but Anita
knew that these were merely words of comfort. Anita knew that things were going
to change.
I actually know quite a bit about the Holocaust already. I
studied it my senior year of high school and I learned so many elements about
that Holocaust that I had no prior knowledge of. I know the names of all the
main concentration camps and what they looked like. I also know a lot about the
doctors who performed ruthless experiments on the Jewish people that were taken
to the hospitals. I still need to grasp a better understanding of the order of
the events that made the Holocaust what it was. I am not familiar with the
timeline of everything.
