Something Descriptive

I was hibernating in my room, as I often do, when I felt a strand of silence coming from the kitchen downstairs. There are a lot of elements from that day that I no longer remember. However, I remember hearing my mom screaming. I remember not being able to breathe. I remember wishing it had been me instead. Amelia was sixteen years old the day she was taken from the world. She went to her friend Autumn’s house in Ohio to go swimming, because she was under the impression that August 8th was just another day. Just as Amelia arrived at Autumn’s, a man was in the middle of a shooting rampage one house over. We don’t know much about that day, but we do know that Amelia tried to save Autumn’s life. You see that was exactly the kind of girl that Amelia was. She NEVER put herself first, even in the face of her own death. Amelia’s funeral was held a week after the event occurred. I remember sitting there and thinking that there were not enough people there. How could the entire world not be here? Didn’t they realize that Amelia was one of the best people on earth? I honestly believe that Amelia was God’s gift to my family and she was taken away far before her time.
