It is clear from my last blog post that I am EXTREMELY ready for this semester to be done. However, I can honestly say that I found this class to be pretty beneficial. I have always been interested in writing and I've always enjoyed it as well. However, before this class I only like to write essays or historical narratives. This course opened my eyes to many different genres of writing and how to go about composing these genres successfully. I have to admit, my favorite assignment from this class was my historical narrative about the Holocaust. I did enjoy writing in a creative form as well, though. All in all, this class showed me that I can write more than formal narratives and I think I am a better writer after taking this class!

So Close, Yet So Far Away...
I do not think I can express how much I want this semester to be over in words. I have definitely had the Freshman year that you hear about in books and movies. I signed up for ridiculously hard classed last fall and barely made it out alive. Let me just say, German is not my language and Math is NOT my subject. However, my first spring semester here at Western Michigan University has been wonderful. I figured out how to become more organized and I think I might even be able to end up with a 4.0! If I got a 4.0 this semester I would be so excited! I think my mother would be even more thrilled than I would be. Heres to wishful thinking! :)

Sick Day
I hate missing class because of sickness, but when it means I will be able to watch "Boy Meets World" all day I don't mind it in the slightest. After watching the show for about 4 hours I came to the realization that all I've ever needed to know in life has been taught to me by Mr. Feeny. I know that sounds ridiculous, but he has seriously changed my life. From underaged drinking to not studying enough for a big exam, Feeny has lectured on all of it. I think that all shows today could learn a thing or two from "Boy Meets World." Just because it consists of "clean" humor, doesn't mean that it isn't an excellent show!

Cinderella
Original Text: Cinderella by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm
Familiar Text: Diary entry Familiar
The purpose of my familiar text is to show the story of Cinderella through the point of view of her evil stepsisters. The audience for the diary entries would be intended for only the stepsisters' eyes, but clearly we will be reading it! The stance of the diaries will be for the stepsisters to express exactly why they despise Cinderella.
Unfamiliar Text: Wanted Advertisement Unfamiliar
The purpose of my unfamiliar text is to show that the prince would stop at nothing to find his beautiful Cinderella and Cinderella just wanted to find her shoe. The audience for these two pieces is everyone who lives within the village where the prince and Cinderella reside. The stance of these pieces are of despiration. Cinderella and The prince just want to find what they're looking for.
For my diary entries I will show how the stepsisters truly feel about Cinderella in a comical way. I chose this format, because I thought it would be interesting to show the story of Cinderella through a different point of view. I chose to do the want ads, because I though that back in the times of Cinderella there were no cellphones or televisions, so in order to find what you were looking for you would have to place want ads around town.

Going Home for the Weekend
This weekend I am driving three hours back to Bay City to see my family for the first time in about two months. My mom plays a very key role in my life and not seeing her for as long as I haven't has been pretty difficult. I also get to see my sister, Angela who just got engaged a couple of weeks ago! I cannot believe that she is getting married, because it feels like we were running through the sprinkler in the front yard of our small home just yesterday. It is crazy how quickly time flies, but I'm loving every minute of it! Oh I almost forgot, Happy Easter!!

Feedback
A piece of advice that I received from one of my peers who reviewed my analysis paper was to work on developing my details a bit more. I struggle with going into details with my writing, because I like to write papers that are very straight to the point. However, I also have troubles with sometimes developing my thoughts too much and end up having papers that are much to long. For me, finding the happy medium is always extremely difficult. I also took some time to improve my grammar mistakes in my paper as well as my word choice.

"Something Borrowed"
I recently finished reading The Hunger Games and I decided to venture over to Barnes & Noble to find my next book. I picked up the novel Something Borrowed, by Emily Giffin, because I know that it was made into a film just last year and all of this talk about "film adaptations" inspired my choice. So far, the book is your average Sex and The City kind of piece. It takes place in New York City and deals with an unhealthy relationship that two best friends(Rachel and Darcy) share. Nothing about this book has really started to standout for me thus far, but I'm looking forward to the storyline's development. To be honest, as of right now... I am bored.
